Tons of pictures, tons of stories... and so little time. hahah let's see if I can do this!
Sorry
for not writing last week. The computer kicked me off due to the
hour.... BUT! That doesn't mean I don't want to hear from you all. I
love it! I just don't get a whole lot of chances to reply......
And time for pictures! Picture number one: hahahha, Sister Brito with my
Red Umbrella. She's kind of ridiculous but I adore her. (and yes... we
walk around with my red umbrella because the Sun is a giant maldito with
the will to destroy our white pasty skin)
Picture number 2!! You see that city "skyline"? oh yeah, that's
downtown. Do you see how far away it is? Yep... and I'm standing in my
own area taking a picture of it. And you should all know... that we
walked all the way there and then in that spot in our area all in one
day. One giant walking day!! haha just something to give you all an idea
of how big our area is... and how it is a little hard sometimes not
having a car. (and I'm not sure if I'm sad or not for not having
bikes....I think bikes would bring their own problems with them)
Picture number 3! One day we were walking and we
wanted to stop by a member's house. But we found... her grandson!!!
Completely alone hanging out in the shade! hahaha so we started to sing
"I am a child of God" to him and then Irmã Jusarra came out and almost
died of joy because we were singing to her grandson. hahah it was a
precious moment.
Picture number 4. I know many of you want more pictures of the country.
And what it's like! And let me tell you... I want to take more
pictures!! But I have to avoid at all costs looking like a tourist. And
the cities here are a little bit more humble than others... and an
american missionary taking pictures with a nice american camera just
doesn't scream "representative of Jesus Christ"
so!
I'll take the pictures quickly.. and what I think is pretty. Here is one
of our million roads in our area. I don't know if you can tell... but
there are kids in the street playing a game (stilll don't know what it's
called) with a 2 liter water bottle, bats, and baseballs. There's
probably a horse somewhere in there, too, and the sun is setting so...
ficou legal! It's really the feel of a Brazilian summer evening... and
it rocks my socks.
Picture number 5: Family home evening!! Here's a picture of a Recent
convert and his family... we played a game with lipstick and it was
super fun. Our focus right now is to get all of the members to hold
Family Home Evenings and invite non-member friends to enjoy a spiritual
message with a more relaxed and fun environment. Diferent from a legit
lesson with the missionaries! And it's been fun.
Picture number 6!: Sister Brito and I got a little crazy at a primary activity. ...I think I look good with black hair. ;)
Picture number 7! More lanscape pictures... I love this because it was
right after it rained... and it's a little crooked because I took it
fast while we were walking.
Number 8: Sister Brito and I made a super awesome
Family Home Evening poster for our ward! We are FHE crazed right now!
(speaking of which ... anyone have any awesome ideas for FHE? Because we
are running out)
Number 9: Last night we totally got stuck in a rain storm!! It was 8:00pm.
Pouring rain and really dark. And I only had my pathetic little red
umbrella for the sun. I had no idea it would rain that night. It takes
30 minutes to walk home (so we would be half an hour early) ooorrr.. we
could walk around in the miserable dark rain and find a house of a
recent convert.
Well it was good that we chose
to go home because we got lost and the rain seriously just dumped on
us!! It was actually quite frightening with the lightening and thunder.
But we survived! And we were very wet.
